The Storm

Here we sit watching the storm rage outside our window. We have a bird  feeder in our front yard and the snow rose from it's bottom to it's middle. We stayed up until 1:00 a.m. in the morning.

The Next Morning

The next morning when I got up, the drifts were up to mom's bedroom window and the garage windows, too!

Last Night
It's freezing. It was so cold last night, that when we threw hot water out the door it evaporated! Try it!

"observe the commandment of your father
And do not forsake the teaching of your mother;
Bind them continually on your heart;
Tie them around your neck."

Vesper

Today my 90-old-year grandpa is getting his teeth cleaned at Hawthorn Woods family dental, and mom is getting her teeth done at the same time. So I’m going to watch mom get her teeth cleaned, and Eric is going to help with grandpa.

Last night, I watch the "Young Black Stallion," and then my Dad, after waking up from a long winter's nap, took the dog (an Australian Shepherd Collie mix - very hyper) out to go pee, but he was sleepy and she got away on our 200 - acre farm with swamps and mud. She will usually come if we honk the horn on the car, but tonight she was fast and ran far away and she didn’t come. Unperturbed, we went back to the house to watch "To Kill a Mocking Bird." In and hour or so, I went to the door to see if she was there, and she was sitting up on the hill. I said, "Come on, Vesper!" for that is her name. She came, but as you may have guessed, she was in the swamp, so she stunk really bad.

That is why I went to bed at 11:00 last night and woke up at 9:00 this morning.

                                    Dude

It all started when Eric got in a homesteading mood. He decided to buy a calf. So Eric, Dad, and I drove up to Wisconsin - sadly not to visit Mars Cheese Castle. At the time, we had a white pickup truck and a van that didn't work, and a Oldsmobile that didn't work, so we put a medium dog cage in the back of the truck.
  After a couple of hours, and a stop at Burger King, and some wrong turns, we arrived at the farm where the cow was raised. With some difficulty we got the cow into the dog cage. He could hardly stand up, but it would keep him safe. On the way back home, we bought a milk bottle and some cow starter(powdered milk formula). When we first got him, he used to like to suck our on our whole hand. Eric named him Dude.

Dude is five feet tall now, and weighs about 750 pounds. He is a pain in the neck to take care of. He is a Jersey and we are going to butcher him in the spring.Yay! Yum, yum. We'll  sell half of the meat and keep the rest for ourservels. Wow, that's a lot of meat!

Today, Dude got out of his cage and was running in the field, so I caught him, and fed the animals. He wasn't that bad, he just wanted to play.

Now I am going to watch "The Young Black Stallion." Well, it's snowing outside.

God bless
